Getting started

What is Christlike?

Christlike is a Bible app for a few quiet minutes with God every day. Each morning there is a verse, a short devotional and a prayer, and the whole King James Bible is built in.

When you want to go further, there are Journeys, Bible games, church groups, and Seek and Find for your questions.

Which phones does Christlike work on?

Christlike is on Google Play for Android phones.

The app is in English, with more languages coming.

Does Christlike work without the internet?

Yes, the essentials do. The King James Bible is built into the app, and so is a starter set of verses, devotionals and prayers, so every day has something to read even offline.

Things you do with other people or with the server, like friends, Sword Drill, Journeys and Seek and Find, need a connection.

Accounts

How old do I need to be?

Christlike accounts are for people aged 13 and up, or older where local law requires it, such as 16 in parts of the European Union. Christlike is not directed at children under 13.

How do I create an account?

Open You and choose Continue with Google, or use your email and a password. With email, tap the link we send you to confirm your address.

Then choose a username (3 to 20 letters, numbers or _) so friends can find you. Step by step.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → Delete account and sign in again when asked.

This deletes your profile, friends, Seeds and synced days for good. Your Prayer Room and notes stay on your phone. If you cannot open the app, use the Delete your account page.

Streaks, Rest Days and Grace Days

What counts as a day?

A day counts when you finish everything in Your day on the Today screen. What is in it depends on the daily time you chose:

  • 2 minutes: the verse and the midday prayer
  • 5 minutes: the devotional as well
  • 10 minutes or more: Word Quest and a starter reading too

You can change your daily time in Settings → Your plan.

How does the Faith Streak work?

Your Faith Streak counts the days in a row you complete. It is kept in your account, so it is safe if you change phones. How streaks work.

What is a Rest Day?

You get one Rest Day each week. If you miss a day, your Rest Day covers it by itself, so your streak stays alive.

It comes back every Monday. A covered day keeps your streak going but does not add to it.

What are Grace Days and Redeem?

A Grace Day protects a missed day once your Rest Day is used. You can hold up to 2, for 100 Seeds each.

If you miss one or two days with nothing to cover them, you can Redeem your streak on the day you come back, once, for 200 Seeds. Otherwise your streak starts again, and today can be day one. The full rules.

Seeds and gifts

What are Seeds?

Seeds celebrate faithfulness. You earn them by completing your day, reaching a 7-day streak, finishing a journey lesson, playing the Daily Drill and Word Quest, and more.

They grow your garden from Seed to Sprout, Sapling, Tree and Cedar.

What can I do with my Seeds?

Spend them on Grace Days, on new looks in the Seeds store (card themes, a streak flame, a badge colour and more), or to restore a streak with Redeem. You can also send some to a friend.

Prayer and private notes never earn Seeds: some things are not for counting.

How do I send Seeds to a friend?

Open your friend's profile and tap Send seeds. Gifts are for friends of 7 days or more, once you have both completed 3 days.

You can send one gift to each friend a day. Only Seeds are given: your growth and your level stay yours. More about gifts.

Friends and church groups

How do I add friends?

Search for your friend's exact @username, share your invite link, or let them scan your QR code at church. When someone joins with your link you are connected straight away.

Every friend is also a streak buddy: you can see who has checked in today and send a friendly nudge.

What is a church group?

A church group brings your church, youth fellowship or Bible study together with one 8-character code. Members see a group leaderboard, can do a journey together and encourage each other on the group's wall.

A group can have up to 200 members. About church groups.

How do I start a church group?

Open You → Church groups → Start a group. You can start one once you have completed 3 days, and you can lead up to 3 groups.

Share the group's code with the people you want to invite. As the leader you can rename the group, change its code and remove members.

Games

What games are in Christlike?
  • Word Quest: a Bible quiz you play on your own, from 5 to 50 questions.
  • Sword Drill: a friendly duel. You and a friend answer the same questions, and the most points wins.
  • Daily Drill: a few quick questions each day to keep God's Word close.
  • Live rooms: a quiz a whole group plays together, at the same moment.
How does Sword Drill work?

Challenge a friend and play first: 5 questions, each with a time limit. A right answer scores 10 points, plus a small bonus for answering quickly.

Your friend then has 24 hours to play the same questions in the same order. The most points wins, equal points is a draw, and a win can earn Seeds.

How do I host a live Bible quiz?

On the Learn tab, open Live room and tap Host. Choose the questions, then share the 6-character code, the QR code or the link.

Up to 50 people can join, and everyone gets the same question at the same moment. To host you need an account with 3 completed days. More about live rooms.

Journeys

What is a Journey?

A Journey is a short series of daily Bible lessons on something you face, like fear, money, waiting or grief. Each lesson has one verse, a few short cards, a little practice and one small step for the day.

One lesson opens each day, and finishing a lesson earns Seeds.

Can we do a Journey as a church group?

Yes. A group leader can start a journey for the group, and members join it from the group page. Everyone does the lesson on their own phone, and the group sees how many members finished today.

You can have up to 3 journeys going at once, including group ones.

Seek and Find

What is Seek and Find?

Seek and Find is a Bible study helper. Ask a question in your own words and get a short answer that points to Scripture, with the verses it rests on. You can also ask about a verse, a chapter or a Journey lesson.

How many questions can I ask?

Everyone can ask a few questions every day, and Sowers can ask more. The app shows how many you have left today, and new questions arrive at midnight where you are.

Seek and Find needs an internet connection.

What if I am going through something hard?

If a question sounds like you may be in danger, Seek and Find first shows a card with your local emergency number and free, confidential helplines for your country. Please also reach out to someone you trust.

Sower

What is Sower?

Sower gives you more features and no ads. Prices are shown in Google Play.

Sower belongs to your account, so it follows you to any phone you sign in on.

How much does Sower cost?

Prices are shown in Google Play before you subscribe. Sower is a subscription through Google Play, and you can cancel it any time.

How do I cancel Sower?

In Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, choose Christlike and tap Cancel subscription. You keep Sower until the end of the time you have paid for.

Deleting your Christlike account does not stop Google Play billing, so cancel first.

Privacy and safety

What stays private?

Your Prayer Room, your notes and your answers in Behind this chapter stay on your phone and are never sent anywhere. Friends only see your name, username, streak and badges, and you can hide your streak in Settings.

Seek and Find conversations are kept with your account for 90 days, and you can delete them any time. Your privacy.

How do I block or report someone?

Open their profile, tap ⋯ and choose Block or Report. Blocking is silent: they are not told, and they cannot find you, add you, nudge you or see you on leaderboards.

Reports go to the Christlike team, and the person is never told who reported them.

Can people message me privately?

No. Christlike has no private chat between people. In church groups, members can post short words of encouragement on the group's wall.

Links and phone numbers are not allowed there, leaders can remove posts, and anyone can report one.

Troubleshooting

Why am I not getting reminders?

Check that notifications are on for Christlike in your phone's settings. Some phones also stop apps in the background to save battery, so let Christlike run without battery limits.

You can choose your reminder times in Settings → Daily reminders. More help with reminders.

I changed phones. How do I get my streak back?

Install Christlike on the new phone and sign in with the same Google account or email. Your streak, plan, Seeds and friends come back with your account.

Your Prayer Room and notes are kept only on the old phone, so they do not move.

Something isn't working. How do I contact you?

Write to us at [email protected]. Tell us what happened, your phone model and, if you can, the app version.
